The original Longjing tea which was recognized by Emperor Qianlong and propelled the Hangzhou Westlake region to fame was processed from the Qunti cultivar. The more common variety of Dragonwell today, which most people associate with what that tea should look, smell and taste like, is grown from an engineered modern cultivar, known as Longjing 43.
This longjing is processed from Qunti cultivar tea leaves harvested in mid April of 2022.
