This four-part guided tasting series invites you to explore the depth, structure, and unmistakable “rock rhyme” (yan yun) that defines Wuyi oolongs.

Each week, we will focus on a different dimension of this historic terroir, tasting rare and expressive teas while building a deeper understanding of their origin, processing, and character.

You’ll journey through the core distinctions of zhenyan (正岩)—teas grown within the protected scenic area among sheer cliffs and mineral-dense soil—and banyan (半岩) teas, cultivated just beyond, where the landscape softens but the Wuyi spirit remains. You’ll experience how geography, elevation, and microclimate shape aroma, body, and finish.
